Hi,
(see doc attached)
I was wanting to know if it would be possible to do make a calendar and add list of jobs to it and for then be able to auto generate invoices using slicers/macros?
I struggled initially to do slicers as I believe the data had to be in a column format for it to work?
So, I then did another sheet to link all the data filled in the calendar to be automated onto as a calendar list.
Goal is to add venders to ‘venders list’ and have the type of work required by the venders linked to another sheet – ‘work type’ (here I would add description of type of work, payment hours etc)
In the calendar sheet I would then be able to select the type of work done on the different days easily (from the pre-populated drop-down list).
Then be able to use ? slicers to be able to edit and generate an invoice for the different companies, including the list of hours and days worked etc.
- I can obtain the information I need using slicers BUT
- how can I add this to invoice sheet and have it automated (such as using the slicers) in a nice format????
If not via this method, then would I need to look at doing via VBA?
issues:
- (correct me if I'm wrong) I am unable to use pivot tables as some info in the table is empty (i.e. some days are holidays/free slots etc )?
(note I don't want to be putting free slots for the gaps as this would be inefficient)
- I can get the information I need by using the slicers but how do I add this to the invoice without having to copy paste/ delete every time?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Note: I'm new to excel, so still learning
Please see file attached.
(please note the 'easy to view calendar' is not fully complete in linking with the ‘calendar list’
I had to manually link the sheet, i.e. each cell …. not sure if there is a easier/quicker way? if anyone can help with this also that would be great!
Thanks in advance.

Hi Mohammed,
An invoicing system is not easy to build, most probably you will need to do a lot of vba coding to add all the functionalities you need now or in the future.
Why not using a free invoicing tool, online?
I use for example: Free invoicing | Best invoice software for small businesses | Zoho Invoice
You can enter time entries per project, per customer, or you can start the timer to track time used. Rates can be set by project, or by client.
