I made an excel sheet for calculating grades in a class. It is based off of this:
GRADE CONFIGURATION:
Theory grades consist of unit exams, a final exam, an ATI predictor (as applicable), and homework points. The calculation of grades will consist of the following elements and steps.Determination of unit exam value:
1. Sum the test % scores
2. Divide the unit examination total score by the total number of unit exams given to determine the test % average.
3. Multiply the unit exam average score by the specified weight (.75) of unit testsDetermination of final exam value:
4. Multiply the final examination % by the specified weight (.20).
A. If this class does not have an attached proctored ATI: The final examination percentage will be multiplied by the specified weight (final exam X 0.2).
B. If this class has an attached proctored ATI: Multiply the final examination score by the specified weight (final examination % X 0.95 and then multiply this result by 0.2). The ATI values will now be added into this equation.1. If a Level 2 or Level 3 has been earned one point is added in.
2. If the ATI level is below Level 1 or Level 1 and remediation has been completed and turned in 0.6 points are added in.5. Sum the total homework points earned.
A. Divide the total homework points by the total homework points possible.
B. Multiply this result by 5%6. Total grade calculation:
A. Add in the values from steps 3, 4, and 5. This is the grade.
If you look through the spreadsheet, you can can see all of the calculations. I didn't use the simple whole number, I used the decimals which should yield the same result. I just want to make sure it's right.
Thank you.

Hi Michael,
What is an ATI? It appears that this calculation is using one. In 4.B.1/2 - it's not clear which applies here but it appears you are applying 4.B.1.
An example with correct results is what you need. I don't have that so I can't be absolutely certain this calculation is correct.
But working through the instructions you have supplied it would appear the calculations are right.
regards
Phil
NOTE: I don't guarantee that my calculations are correct.

I'm sorry. I meant to include that in the post. ATI is the Assessment Technologies Institute. They have a program that the nursing school I'm in uses to help people prepare and pass the NCLEX (Nursing boards). I got a Level 3 so I get the full point. Thank you for taking a look at it. Our instructors are pretty much not helpful for this scenario. They just say the calculation is in the syllabus. So, I created this spreadsheet and I've been helping the other students with their calculations. You have to finish the class with a 75.00% or you fail. I've double checked it a million times and done the calculations in every way I can think of. I get the same thing every time. I just wanted an outside perspective incase I missed something. I'd feel like total garbage if it was wrong and someone failed after thinking they should have passed.
