Hello. I would like help calculating total free/unused time (in days or hours) between two dates/times, given multiple overlapping time spans. For example, I would like to calculate the total unused time between 5/1/16 0:00 and 5/31/16 23:59. The multiple time spans in the attachment represent the 'used' time that I want to exclude to arrive at total free/unused time.

Any help would be very appreciated :).

Hi Brent,

That sure is a brain teaser and given the lack of response to your question, I'm not the only one to think so.

I can't say I have an answer for you, but in the attached file I've added a chart so you can visualise the gaps in time, which may help you get a feel for the free/unused time, of which there is very little.

Hi again,

Please see the revised file attached. Column D contains a formula that I think does what you want. You can change the start and end dates in your data set to calculate for the desired period, as opposed to the start and end dates of the data set.
