My PivotTables retain items deleted from the source data. I already tried PivotTable Options > Data tab > set 'Retain items deleted from the data source' to None. After Refresh & Refresh All data, old items from Pivot field and Slicer are still not deleted.

Have you double checked the source data to make sure there aren't any rows containing the items you're expecting to be gone? If that's not it, are you able to share your file so we can help troubleshoot?

Yes, I checked the source data. Please see the attached file. I don't understand why it display <1/31/19 and >3/1/2021. If you filter those two item, you don't see anything from the pivot table.

Oh, those are default values that get included in your filters/slicers when you group dates. If you have Excel 2016 or later you can go into the Slicer settings and check the box for 'hide items with no data' option and this will prevent these values from being included in the Slicer.
