hello, I want to chart a table in a better way to show all the data. but there is a big difference on some data, which makes the chart very hard to read.

can anyone recommend a better way to deal with it?

I have attached a file.

thanks in advance!

Hi Tina,

You could use a logarithmic scale. Let's say it's a line chart, select the vertical axis > format axis > logarithmic scale. That said, there are probably too many categories to stuff into one line chart.

If it's not important to be able to compare the categories to one another then you could use small multiples i.e. small individual charts for each category with their own custom axis scale. Category A will still have large variations and there's not a lot you can do about this other than using the logarithmic scale.

If you choose to use the logarithmic scale you may need to educate your users on how to interpret it.

I hope that points you in the right direction.

Mynda
